Wireless animal activity monitoring sensor

The wireless IceTag3D is an advanced pedometer device which enables second-by-second monitoring of livestock activity. This replaces the earlier cable-based version.

Whilst the IceTag platform was designed primarily for use with dairy cows, it is also being used extensively with other animals such as beef cattle, sheep, and goats.

The IceTag has so far been developed for research purposes only. It facilitates detailed analysis of stepping activity and lying behaviour. Devices are supplied with the easy-to-use IceTagAnalyser software for downloading data onto a PC and creating csv files for analysis.

A version is under development for use by dairy farmers which will offer reliable and fully automated oestrous detection and lameness detection.
